Hai Peng’s paintings focus on technique. As for him, what are the most important things are not the affairs of people’s lives, but the perspectives and methods, through those he observes the world. The representative is his graduation work Between Yes and No. He selects traditional themes such as water, stones, trees, clouds and so on, creates his works by the technique of ruler painting, and adds traditional elements to his paintings from the aspects of model construction and computation, or interprets the issue “associated with tradition” by means of separating from traditional beauty-appreciation, so as to present the significance of methods. His works are complicated, exquisite, precise and classical.
