Wu Cong is a visual artist whose works include installations, videos, painting, and photography, etc., where he explores the invisible power behind everyday life. Wu Cong pays particular attention to the subtle alternation between the familiar and the extraordinary, the known and unknown, now and the past, the pleasure and the mixture of delight and fear, and the secular and the transcendent. Moreover, he is fascinated by the purely spiritual experience generated within alternations, that is, a kind of unspeakable, specific spiritual status producing a ‘mental jump’ which leads the viewers to a point beyond our rational thinking and the limit of our knowledge.

There are two scenarios in permanent war: a company staff dormitory and my grandmother's home. Before my grandmother died, I was in that dormitory. When I rushed back to grandma's house, she was already gone. The presence and absence of my grandmother were, therefore, incredibly combined in these two irrelevant scenarios owing to me as a middleman. The stairs, curtains, wooden chairs, bathtubs, fragments of clothes burned in the iron basin, as well as the Shentai used to worship gods, suggest the existence of my grandmother, and also trace the eternal constructions, struggles, and destruction within human beings. The touching song sang by a grandma's friend in Cantonese at her funeral that describes her happiness during the afterlife, was used as a part of this film. The voice-over was selected from part of Michel Foucault's speech at Collège de France in 1976.
