The works mainly explore the entangled relationship between individuals and the outside world from the perspective of their own feelings and perspectives. Using images, sound, video and installation, the works combine various media to abstractly visualise the discomfort and conflict brought about by contradictory relationships, attempting to break through barriers and boundaries and inviting the viewer to enter and perceive the state of existence of different groups in society.

Chen Zhaochen's artistic concept emphasises the tactile sense as the centrepiece, mobilising multiple sensory functions to achieve a 'sensory experience'. The graduation work, Trapped Beast, is a horrific expression of the power of entanglement and counter entanglement within oneself, signifying the tension between the individual and the outside world. The work's manoeuvres and material treatments, including texture, colour and volume, are visually stimulating and viscerally shocking, demonstrating her ability to control the many elements in her work.
