As contemporary image production gradually shifts from embodied experience toward algorithmic mechanisms of de-physicalization and de-situatedness, the image no longer necessarily relies on the act of “shooting” itself. In this transition, the image unbinds itself from its physical entanglement with the body and destabilizes the long-standing perceptual logic grounded in experience, vision, and tactility. My doctoral research engages with emerging technologies such as Google Street View, 3D scanning, and AI-generated imagery, exploring how the image is redefined within new media ecologies and how it is generated under conditions of authorlessness and placelessness. Against this backdrop—where images increasingly detach from site, body, and even the notion of the “self”—One Two One, the work presented here, offers a gesture of reversal. I return to my identity as a twin, contemplating a form of intimacy sutured by blood within the tension of coexistence and individuation, unity and separation—a relational flow that slowly unravels, yet continues to merge. As imaging technologies drift away from the body, this work returns to it—as the origin of narrative, perception, and presence.
