Shi Yan: What I present and what I express in my paintings are always the great contrasts of the human hearts or the collision between traditional and personal thoughts. They will always depend and conflict with each other. But no matter what, there are always "deviations" related to another "deviation" in even comparatively mild environments. So I always adopt the Chinese traditional mediums and techniques to present an intuition of a relatively "peaceful" and "auspicious" scene. But under what intuition are the potential worries and happiness for "today" and "tomorrow" in the human heart?
