Generally speaking, Wu Haizhou's works do not directly expound on social or political topics, but by collecting pictures and other materials, Wu is able to depict a scene of everyday life within the state to great effect. In gray, dusky shades, the texture of brush strokes, the flavor of the times, the historical shadows and memories, all speak of the specific environment behind a restless temperament. In a sense, the creations of Wu Haizhou, allied with his own life experiences and reconstructed memories, confirms history just as it starts slipping away. (Feng Boyi)
