Zhan Yingtong: I always focus on the "living dead" – an unspeakable, but inescapable feeling,which once started, cannot be named or got rid of. This feeling is always like an invisible net that surrounds me, no matter what I do or where I am. At first, I sketched some realistic little animals and purposely drew them very crowded together. I try to retain those transient life moments in the net with them and fight against those negative emotions and attitudes in life. Now, I begin to create some "little animals" which don't exist in reality. As the "me" living in my paintings, those tiny lives help me express my emotions and feelings, and represent the truth, goodness and beauty of life.
