Jang Heejin : Artist Jang Heejin's work, from her strenuous labor, makes viewers exclaim their admiration. Her labor-intensive work generates a sort of visual chasm on canvas. This chasm assumes the role of extending space. Even a small-scale work looks large due to the texture of the expanding image. This is achieved through a process of difference and repetition, elements which are close, and harmoniously associated with each other, like the relation between a bicycle's front and back wheel. Gaps generated through this process are spaces between presence and absence. "In the past I considered a sense of space, capturing the impressive parts of images. This time, I want to evoke a natural atmosphere we feel in gentle breezes blowing from a forest by capturing natural silhouettes of a tree and overlapping them with waves" Jang said.
