Chi Qun: Lines, non-representational in their purest forms, are fantastically powerful in my self expression. I try to uncover the limitless lines in myself that lead to the feelings in my life. Each line has its own character and temperature and even its own life. Art is so diverse these days, but the simplicity of the line still has an incredible power to communicate one's personal style. The reason is that the line is a symbol that can encapsulate the attitudes of life. In them, I try to find a calmness, a home for my heart. When drawing, I pay special attention to the sense of friction between the pencil and the paper. I continually take the temperature of my drawing. The repetitive process is often almost like mechanical production.But in this mechanical process, there is great emotion and calmness.
