Guo Zilong: "Bonsai Tree" is a series of work based on the artist's respect and admiration for traditional Chinese culture, as well as personal explorations of life. His works create a dialogue between the animate and the inanimate, between classical and contemporary allusions. Bonsai are in fact just regular plant life that has been carefully cultivated into pots, creating a landscape sculpture or silent poem. Through the meticulous process of trimming the plant's natural shape, a new landscape emerges. The creator is engaged in an artistic dialogue with nature, engaging both natural life and the mind of the artist. Like the bonsai of his subject, Guo Zilong's new works are ceaselessly evolving and developing.
