Li Ming: This is the age of consumption. There are many ways that an artist can reflect this consumption, but what best presents our age are simply the basic necessities of our lives: clothing and fabrics... For expression in an image, I choose relatively simple backgrounds to contrast with rich content, so that the rapid rhythm of our consumption takes on a slower and quieter tone. A sharp contrast between the rapidness of contemporary life and the quietness of the image is brought into focus, allowing the heart to relax from its mad emotions. Maybe, we cannot express the connotations of consumption in any better way than an image of our clothes and fabric. This kind of composition has become a way for me to explore and express the age of consumption that we live in.
