Wang Jie: Whether in the East or West, we express the body's form is a focus of art, and how we understand human experience. It is not a question about "life's existence" or the "location of the spirit". Given this, I erase the visible "body" in my works. If the history of human art is also the history of portraiture and the human body, then I choose to go against this. Faces and bodies are "absent" from the beings in my work. For me, "absence" and "presence" are two ways to express the same thing.
