Sim Chan: Vision and perspective were a lways Chen's favorite subjects. Just like a camera's viewfinder, Chen's oil painting ser ies "SimCity" and "SimSky" depic ts the ever - changing colors of the sky and surrounding crowded, distorted buildings with a holelike POV. On the one hand, Chen renders city buildings with a delicate impression, their forms stretching unceasingly to the sky as a microcosm of our city, a scene of excessive development. On the other hand, the open and high sky in Chen's paintings reflec ts the ar tificial limitations in the lives of urban people, who often cannot see beyond the city limits. These man-made barriers not only stand vividly on the paper, but also in the painting frames representing every silhouette of the sky.
