Gao Sihua: Everyone has an ideal kingdom in his or her heart. The world in mineis a quiet, undisturbed, orderly, and mysterious paradise. My friends often remark that I have obsessive-compulsive disorder and, indeed, I do always love looking for all kinds of order and regularity in the normal course of life. Recently, I created a series of wor ks on the theme of adoor in front of a starry sky. There are many meanings of "Door" in China – there is the man who came out from one door to open another door,the entrance door, the door to work, the back door, and so on. " Door" is a symbol of power, of blocking. It implies a new entrance while the same time representing the future, and in turn all its intimations of hope. The mysterious nature of stars give viewers an infinite imagination of unknown worlds, places that are dif ferent for each and every one of us.
