When I first saw Li Baiming's Hometown Memories in the exhibition, I was attracted to the power of loneliness and quietude the works in this series conveyed. In these paintings, Li uses only black and white colors to outline the various details of aging buildings, achieving an impressive printmaking - like effect with his brush that confuses the audience's very perception of medium. Baiming's "Hometown Memories", meanwhile, displays an immense awareness of time and nature. When one gazes upon his work, he or she is filled with a sense of quietness and peace. Cherishing our rekindled hometown memories, we canfeel the warmth of their glow, even if only for a moment. ( Zhu Xiaojun )
