Luo Qiang: Creation of the "Drama Direc ted for the Past" series started during the winter of 2007. For all of us, photos a re a witness to the pas t. Photos, like paintings,are intended to save our memories, but they are an objective reflection, whereas paintings adopt subjectivity to some extent based on objectivit y. The collage technique applied in this series endows the images, as signals of memor y, with a half-real and half - fantastic charm, expanding the real landscape of photos through the medium of painting to create a novel, plausible world. This world belongs to neither the past nor the future; it is just a place created by our generation based on the inspiration of old photos, as well as our particular understanding of the past.
