Peng Bo: Some friends said that this painting depicted something like leaves, feathers, or fish. What it shows exactly, I cannot explain clearly either; it is maybe something pulled from my subconscious cues. In a visual sense, my painting is translucent illusions that are super-positioned. From a distance, it looks blurred; with a closer look, it seems sharp. Different shapes of images become backgrounds of one other. Through long - term practice, I gradually became familiar with choosing the proper brush and knowing how to use pigment and brush, as well as how to adapt to canvases of different smoothness. In a quiet environment, I paint faster and my brushstroke becomes more constan t, an almost uniform motion. My attitude also becomes more natural and calm and so the line s I draw are linked up more naturally.
