Peng Yong: In recent years, my creations basically all center on the metropolis where I live. This cit y seems to be closely entwined with me, but in my heart there are always some misgivings with the place I have lived for nearly ten years. With its intensive, depressive, and apathetic urban constructions and materialistic metropolitan life, lived with no spirituality in quick rhythm, the city comes into strong conflict with my humanistic worldview and mypreviously natural and idyllic life, often causing me to struggle and hesitate. These feelings create a strong desire to express myself. Many of my works adopt the color blue, because in my opinion, blue can be both joyful and gloomy. For most occasions,it is an appropriate interpretation of the complex emotions in my heart .
