Sun Shang: "Portrait Series" continues the work of my undergraduate creative ideas and materials, focusing on the people and things around me with a curious,infant - like world view. I want to use thisprimordial language to convey to the audience a "visual touch" approach and feel, so that one can feel each object's inner emotional portrait. Through car ving, I can explain the secrets of the body in wood's material characteristics and beauty. The characters are created in a way that can render the reality of those modeled. In the creative process, the unique characteristics of the original image are strengthened, as my

generalized feelings enact a type of deformation, exaggerating the scale and details of shapes.
