Wang Hao: In his book "Morals", Lao - t zu states that "various colors makes people confused", and thus advocates "manifest plainness and embracing simplicit y". The simplic ity of cement complies with Lao - t zu's ethos. Observing the spar tan material and shape of city buildings, Wang Hao draws out the implications. In his deconstruction of the world, all shapes and structures become schema. Calm strips and colored blocks transform into rhetorical vocabularies in his pictures, quietly breathing the

traditional ink smell of modeling geometry and architec ture. In his work, which adopts a rigorously simplified method, "images"are almost represented as flat screen. In the monochromatic palette of grey and white, the painter seeks all sor ts of shade changes and combinations, from ash grey to dark white, arousing uncanny inner feelings.
