Zheng Zicheng: The recreation of social and historical events is the current focus of my artistic practice. I have great doubt about the genuineness of the histor y we have been taught, as the construction of history must take place despite a lack of information and is subject to bias ed interpretation. We have learnt most of our histor y from traditional media, from earlier generations by word of mouth, and from t he Internet. Based on our experience and reference information, most of us would

come to a conclusion of the past of our own making, resulting in a self - defined history which may be a far cry from what really happened.
