Wang Ning: Ceramics has long been the main material of my artistic practice. It has fascinated me with its unique expressiveness, complicated procedures of creation, and the chanciness of the firing process. China's time-honored history of ceramics-making, rich culture, and unique ceramics aesthetics have ser ved to endow the ware with a kind of "Chinese temperament." These at tributes of ceramics coincide with what I've been searching for in an artistic medium, as I try to find and express the unnoticed beauty in commonly seen objects, while simultaneously unveiling the traditional aesthetics and cultural concerns of the Chinese people.
