Liu Fujie: The creative process is actually a process of “fine tuning” the artist himself/herself, such that the artist’s language, the material artwork, and the artist’s ideas become ever more integrated. In adjusting my mental states and ideas, I approach the essence of the relationship between the self and society. This process is subtle and difficult to control; one cannot be too careful or too subjective, nor can one lose judgment. In my eyes, the creation and study of art is functions like a slow motion lens, which disassembles powerful moments into subtle processes. In the end, I create a world that is completely different from the one before our eyes.
