Wang Ruihan: Sometimes, when the painting looks like it's only temporarily supported, it achieves its autonomy. It can migrate and leave home. I play with layers, trying to reveal them all at the same time, with the game taking place between the body and its vehicle; I play with color and pigment tones, and their diffusion of light. I sand, I paint, and I dig into the paint. There are many games played in these moments spent with paint. I also play with the painting as object itself as well as with the language of painting. For example, the sandpaper used in sanding my paintings can become, in turn, a painting itself, hesitating between attack and defense. The titles of my works try to play with what we see as "a piece of paint".
