Xu Meng: In my ordinary life, I long for peace of mind. In the process experimenting with new styles of painting, a sense of peace will come to me as I regain a long-lost feeling of content stability. The joy in painting lies in the process of self-discovery. In this process, I have come to find infinite pleasure in the relationship between different styles of painting and self-expression. In painting, I find happiness and satisfaction in an otherwise exhausting and stressful life. This pleasure drives me to experiment and to create, as I calmly and rationally explore ways to discover more of myself within the confines of the surface on which I work.
