Zhuang Yan's work ethic and sensitivity lead her to take formal aestheticism on her canvas to its outer limit, to the point that even if we take the most critical look possible, we still cannot find any flaws in her work. However, this contemplative artist does not confine herself to formal aestheticism. Through her controlled, dark tones and language of lonely enlightenment, she pursues humanity's spiritual nature. This pursuit is not one of adolescent anxiety or cathartic outburst, nor is it a lofty, but ultimately empty narrative. Rather, she bases her work on personal pain, constantly pursuing the question of the value of the body's existence.
