Jeong Yunkyung: The constant conflict between the contrasting energies of tension and confrontation that arise in the lives of groups of people has become an ingrained part of human history. Groups of people create cities overvflowing with images, establishments and stimuli. These phenomena of excess stimuli and human confrontation have become a vital part of human existence. The artist turns her attention to the endlessly pairing opposites in this distracting place, the space of the group—flowing and static, rising and falling, the natural and the artificial—and how these unfamiliar and intriguing thoughts result in a new excess, and how their images and meanings are juxtaposed.

Living organisms of water that contain the fiery sun inside, the world of nature and human beings where movement and staying at rest co-exist, and the history of mankind are all examples of these contrasting energies; their co-existence is necessary for survival, and the world is woven from the subtle clashes of conflicts between numerous elements. The artist explores a mode of co-existence among these conflicting elements based on Eastern philosophy, taking a heuristic approach to the phenomena and focusing on relationships between them. As such, the artist guides a variety of forms that contain diverse geometrical architectural elements to create an idea-like single scene in the form of untouched nature, shaped by the peculiar relationships between the elements. Within the work, within the distracting space of the group, the artist attempts to seek the energy of legitimacy and salvation for our existence.
