Chen Jinan: The series Web-eye came from a project about real property named “New Paradise”. In the fast urbanized process of China, real property companies keep making foam advertisements such as “New Paradise”, which are trying to mix up illusion and reality. This leads me to the consideration of the visual reality and illusion on photography.

The developments of photography technology allow us to get clearer and clearer images, thus, we proved the reality of the world chemically and electronically. However, the basic elements of the proofs have no necessary relationship with reality. The seen images in photography give testify and commit perjury at the same time. In the works, I chose to use early technique of photography and reconstructed the images of 3d objects (buildings for sale) by 2d brush strokes in order to inquire the riddles of illusion and reality in description.
