Deng Yuming: Due to the influence of the contemporary art concept, many works of engraving overemphasized on the form of appearance and novelty of the picture effect in recent years. Because of the divorce from the reality, the engraving was not that popular as before, and it almost became a niche art for minority nowadays. Does the loss of engraving reflect the loss of people in this materialistic society? Is it the time to think about where we should go and to rebuild our spiritual life and our sense of worth? How to make connection and communication between the public and the art creation at the present age? The author believed that the modern engraving art should still be in response of recording the life, ideology and culture of the present society. The engraving creation must return to narrative style in order to make the works lively again and be back to the public.
