Guo Donglai did not limit himself within original or artificial or even industrial status of materials, but reconstructed new lingual and significant connections among different materials – discover unprecedented meaning during the process of changing material status and re-organization. Precisely speaking, he created a magical match with natural materials and industrial materials; they look like being “apart”, while actually they are “generating new product”. In this way, he discarded reification, and exposed the discussion and fusion of materials’ “original status” and “artificial status”. The artworks of Guo Donglai presented a rather remarkable art level; they not only dissolved the trace of “human” and “me”, but reactivate isolated objects through encounter of materials. To sum up, the artist blurred out the boarder between handcraft and nature, and showed an unprecedented existence and concept through reassembling materials. -Huang DuCurator, Art critic
