Lei Ming: SUMMER PALACE is a kind of temporary “Public Art” by drawing the specific images drawn from the BaoFu painting on the wall of the Summer Palace. The work is engaged to show the relationship between traditional narrative and modern space. Although all these images of the stories are traditional, they could be recognized easily by contemporary Chinese people. To some point, they reflect the core Chinese cognition of the world. The world of cognition is so crisp compared to the fast developing material world and it seems that all the cognition will be vanished within the old removed world.
