Tao Yuexiang: To write about my own work is a banal task. I hope that my works in itself can communicate my experience of life. If the processes of painting are marks left by the struggles of life, then I want to go back to the studio to express my experience of this era. The reality is suffocating, I can only find serenity when I settle down to paint. Facing the canvas and freedom (the self is lost in absolute freedom), it is necessary to set some boundaries and restrictions for myself. I tried to break away from the usual Western painting language and return to a tradition of my own culture by only using one brush and one color to paint, that was when I felt the exhilaration of freedom. Simultaneously, that was also the process of elevation of my life, to feel the joy of calmly painting. Be a good person, paint a good painting !
