Wang Muchuan: Not everyone would agree that Bresson is a great photographer. Some saying goes that “Henry Cartier-Bresson’s images were not that satisfied, but it at least proved he documented every corner he walked by carefully.” A diligent photographer should have formed the habit of keeping the lens uncapped. The same applies to a worker who should keep his eye open at work. If not, it’s like crossing the road with one’s eyes closed. For me, different cameras themselves are interesting. Although we could not judge by photos alone whether they are produced by outdated or recent cameras. But once we focus on the users’ different operations, the difference is obvious. Moreover, it easily shows the transformation of craftsmanship and people’s way of thinking. For example, an ancient Buddha looks more vivid with a candle light because there was no electric light then.
