Jung Sungyoon: In my painting, I always travel around to find a joy in the hidden isolation. In the reproduced space, there is a relief that one character can enjoy in the momentary, casual and continuing present. A mimetic image is more than just copying a fleeting world of senses, but it is, privately, existed as the substance of things not seen. The nature which was chosen or created as a stage carries out its anthropocentric obligation and lightens up the burden of our souls. Thus, paintings can pause the surrounding world of reality for a moment, and become a resting place from the world consists of wishes and values which our existence cannot contain. I basically believe that paintings are sort of play which deals with spiritual energies arisen when a three-dimensional value given to a plane is projected into our minds.
