Zhang Zengzeng: The most exciting thing about contemporary sculpture art is that it is a field in continuous expansion and transformation. In particular, Zhang Zengzeng’s art marks such characteristic. He understands and re-interpreters Form and Space, which are the most fundamental concepts of sculpture art, by applying multimedia technologies. He applies the technology of Augmented Reality in his signature piece A Form of the Formless to present the spatial extension virtually and its resulting transformed relationship with the viewers in participation. This work successfully invites a surprising amount of viewers to participate. They use their own phones to scan the QR codes and capture its virtual form. The image is then widely spread not only by newspaper media but also on the internet. Now he brings a fresh new interactive multimedia work. It could capture the electrical activities of the brain, based on which a virtual 3D form would be built. This time he is trying to build a form for the formless human consciousness.
