Bai Lei: I have been observing the world and people while keeping busy making my own artwork. The world can work in ways that are completely surprising. Human thoughts and actions sometimes work to maintain order, yet at other times try to break existing orders in pursuit of something new. My video and installation works in this exhibition should be seen as two parts of a whole. In a nutshell, when people try to change their surroundings, sometimes daring to go so far as to effect change on the universe, observers will find such actions strange and futile, yet at the same time they may perhaps also be moved by the efforts they witness.
