Cai Yaling: I am very interested in the details of subjects, such as the cracks of cement, the tip of a tree,  the wrinkles got around my father’s eyes. I am also exceptionally sensitive to people’s moods and emotions, touched by those trembling fingers, lowered eyelashes, pursed lips. Those details and unique texture of various materials always fascinate me. I am obsessed with the folds appeared on a dampened paper, the tiny green buds emerged in early spring; I also love the dry branches and my mother’s dropped white hair. I used them in my works, in a simple and pure way, to bring out their peculiar charm that touched me. My works constitute a world that I am constructing, which is full of my sentiments. For me, the working process is more important, which brings me the inner satisfaction.
