Chen Jiahong: These works mainly display a state of environmental immersion through mixed media that take on an element of performance. I am committed to bring together installations, videos, written words, sounds, numbers, body parts and more to compose a dramatic scene. I use them as a tool to help one think and to reflect upon both ultimate human problems as well as ordinary daily life, such as human nature, sex, death, and so on. These elements are not necessarily found in each individual work, but these themes run through my “portfolio” in the way Duchamp dedicated himself to playing chess in his later years.
