Lv Xiaoshuai: Rhythms of nature, order of the universe. The realm of human life is guided by the experience and recognition of “metaphysical” elements entering into the cosmic order, allowing the limited to become limitless, and the ephemeral to become eternal. The pattern of rings that grows year by year in a tree appears both as erosion wrought by the sands of time and also a display of life itself. This natural phenomenon inadvertently also provides an object of viewing pleasure for the public. Wood has been an indispensable material in the development of relationship-based human society. Choosing to work in the media of wood drives me to find a way to re-establish natural order in my own life, in my own way. Our sense of beauty is forever intertwined with our understanding what it means to enjoy a happy life.
