In the works of Sun Ziyao exists a disturbing primitive wildness. It is this primitive wildness that makes people fascinated, crazy，and wanting to explore its source. Sun Ziyao’s works display free use of lines, points, and color that extend far beyond the bounds of the Chinese ink tradition. His incorporation of acrylic, oil paints, and sometimes even wax and pencil among other material along with ink allows him to create complex works that possess an element of tension. In his works, Sun Ziyao attempts to reflect a truth that lies somewhere between mediocrity, eccentricity and degeneration. In his imagination and depiction of the details of the human body and sexuality, he allows the works to emit a strange, wild beauty.
