Wang Chienyang: The internet has brought the virtual world into every home, enabling an infinite space of imagination even for the“homebody”. In the House series, the home becomes a fantasy stage in a private space. Constructed sets and copious colorful toys create a theatrical animated gaming scene; while nude bodies express a certain purity and natural state of being. Nakedness creates a dis-reality within the actual space, amalgamating reality with fantasy. The work combines elements of animation, fairytale, and sweetness, presenting human expressions and gestures through exaggerated manga techniques. The joyful sweetness and illusionary set design aims to enable the audience to escape the realities of life. This fantasy world reflects a strategy where modern people try to seek an outlet for life through individual illusion and imagination.
