Ye Jiang: My practice of art often reveals my thinking about the role of being an artist in contemporary society. I believe that art is a way to trigger people’s awareness of the inherent value of human life, and it works in it’s own way to somehow act as a counterbalance to a social system based on material value. Most of my works are derived from transformations of mundane objects or symbols from my daily experience. I see art works as a combination of seeing and thinking. These two things happen simultaneously when one views a work of art. My experience is a product of my daily observation and artistic thinking.
