Erxat: Language is a medium and vehicle for interpersonal communication. As a Uighur, I try to display our wonderful ethnic language through design. After analyzing ancient and modern calligraphy and fonts, and engaging in a number of attempts, I ultimately designed a set of 32 Uyghur letters in a simplified original font, with carefully considered morphology, structure and details. The letters are also used as repeated elements combined in patterns, typically employed as a decorative tool in architecture, allowing for dialogue between the visual scene and the physical structure. "Silent Language" displays the beauty of the Uygur language and the charm of our culture.
