This is an experimental
group art therapy project that lasted for nearly three months. I set the
creation process of picture books,from the writing of stories to the production of pictures, as the means of art therapy for four patients with depression and one with bipolar disorder. The
process of creating picture books is the process of treatment.
I have suffered from bipolar disorder for a long
time. Due to the side effects of my
medications, after two years of art therapy, I wondered if I can expand art therapy as into “courses” of
treatment to cure patients, in order to replace medications. As
a non-professional, I choose Edith Kleiman's
concept of "art as therapy" as the theoretical basis, that is, the art process has certain
therapeutic effects,
and the process itself is the means
of healing.
