Consumption and manufacturing are the main subjects in Xizi Liu’s work. Through the skillfully arranged composition and color choices, the paintings playfully narrate the commodity economy and consumerism of capitalism. Xizi uses hard edge lines to process the picture, and use the semi-realistic way to depict the subjects. In the meantime, to add more emphasis on the lines and details, she uses flat paint to blur the boundary between human and objects. The pop art like color choices fill the artwork’s atmosphere with happiness and joy. The strong contact between colors not only enhanced the sense of spaces, but also eased the tension of seriousness in the paintings’ subjects.
